  Oldest congregation and oldest church building in town. Town bell from 1857 in tower. Novelist Sinclair Lewis made the pews of the Presbyterian church his title character Babbitt attended identical to the pews in this one, just across the street from where he briefly lived. Complexly interwoven connections with the Betsy-Tacy series of children's books and Maude Hart-Lovelace go back several generations.
  
  Free lecture series at noon on first Friday of every month draws crowds of widely varying sizes and demographics.
